So you want to be a professional Santa? Great!

Amount will be from 6,000 to 12,000 dollars. The first day will vary. Most contracts start the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The last day will be Christmas Eve usually at 5 PM. First year contracts are 2,000 dollars less. With experience, Santa will see an increase in contracts. Contracts will vary in days each year due to days between Saturday before Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. The workday for a single Santa is usually 10-hour days with two-one-hour breaks. Sunday schedule is from 11 AM to 6 PM. Two Santa malls are usually from 4.5 to 6 hours per day with no breaks. All contracts will increase in daily hours usually 13 days before Christmas.

Most Santa’s will have one to two additional assignments each year. These may be pet nights or pet and paw night, photo with individuals and pets. Some malls with hotels have a breakfast with Santa for children and parents. Visiting hospitals and working with mental or physical handicap center. Some malls may have you open a retail store in the morning. These will be stated in your contract. However, the contracts the last two years have stated that they have up to the week before start date to provide you with scheduled times and events.

Hotel is provided for you. Cost of hotel is the cost of mall, or contract agency. Most hotels are within a few blocks to few miles of the mall. It is the responsibility of the mall or contract agency to contact you with name of hotel. Some Photography Companies are developing contracts with the Santa being responsible for their own hotel and travel.

Travel cost can be the responsibility of Santa. Sometimes a partial meal package is provided by hotel or mall. A couple of contracting agency will provide a travel package. This will be from 500 to 1,800 dollars. If you have a RV, then we can develop additional travel budget and additional salary.

Santa does have options to location of assignment. Some will chose locations closest to home. Many ask for warm climates and others ask for different locations each year. The contracting company will usually offer one to three locations for Santa to select.

A contract with Propp’er Way Association, LLC must be signed before I can become your agent. Propp’er Way Association LLC will provide liability insurance to Santa that provides a signed contract.

Propp’er Way Association,LLC will be your agent. I will be responsible for obtaining a contract with photography agency. They will have the contract with mall to have Santa’s in the mall and take photographs. This contract will be based upon your input and your final decision as to location, contract amount, and extra assignments.

Propp’er Way Association, LLC fees for the first year will be 10 percent of contract. After first year will be 5 percent. Propp’er Way Association LLC will pay for your Commercial General Liability Insurance Coverage after drug and background check is completed.

Before the Photography Company can hire you, we must have a group of three photos with photos from your chest to head shots. The three photos will have one of each. You wear a Santa suit with hat. Also, wear non-reflective glasses. Second photo is with you being a Santa, wearing a Santa jacket and hat in a setting position with non-reflective glasses. Third photo is you being a working Santa, in a Christmas shirt with non-reflective glasses and no Santa hat. I will discuss with you want needs to be done before you have your photo taken. PLEASE USE SOMEONE WHO TAKES PHOTOGRAPHS. The photography company is looking for a professional image and Santa personality.

All Santa’s must go through a training program. Our training program consists of a training manual with a DVD with a follow-up with you through phone conversations. THE CONTRACTING COMPANY WILL ASK US IF YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH A TRAINING PROGRAM.

A Federal background check and drug test will need to be done by end of September. Contract Company will work out details with each Santa.

Dry cleaning cost if covered will be in your contract.

Contracting Company may provide Santa Suits for the first year contracted Santa. Santa will need to purchase or provide Santa suits for the second year on. Traditional or Coca-Cola Santa suits can be used. Some malls will accept a working Santa suit. That will need to be worked out before Christmas season. Back up suits will be provided for all years by Photography Company.
